Plant Description

Joe Pye Weed is a tall (up to 10 feet) perennial with dense clusters of mauve flowers blooming midsummer to fall. The flowers contrast beautifully with its dark purple stems. It prefers some moisture and will do well in sun or light shade. It is best suited to natural areas or the rear of an informal perennial border. Joe Pye Weed has an ethereal quality. It could also be used as a very tall perennial hedge or screen. It is a butterfly magnet and its flowers are very sweetly scented.
