Florida Anise Tree

Item #: 1121
Pot Size: full quart

Plant Description

Here's an evergreen shrub native to moist shady ravines from Florida to Louisiana. Grow it in good soil either moist or dry and in sun or shade, where it will be moderately branched and upright growing to 9 or 10 feet. The medium green leaves are elliptic, 4 to 6 inches long, and fragrant when crushed. Late spring flowers have many narrow burgundy pink, strap-shaped petals forming a broad wavy star. For southern gardeners, Illicium is a nice alternative to our more common evergreen shrubs.
