Plant Description

Iris verna forms loosely spreading clumps remaining under 8 inches tall. It occurs throughout the southeast in sandy or rocky dry woods. Fragrant, blue-violet, 2 inch flowers with yellow or orange bands in the middle, occur in late spring. Use Dwarf Iris in dry, well-drained soil in light shade, perfect with Alumroot, Eared Coreopsis, Beardtongue, or Fire Pink.
