Plant Description

Another species from China, evergreen ginger has beautiful 4 inch, long heart-shaped leaves that are semi glossy and silver mottled, and interesting, brown, jug-shaped flowers that are attached at soil level in mid to late spring. This ginger grows to about 6 inches tall and is the fastest spreader of our evergreen gingers. Hexastylis (used to be called Asarum) make wonderful groundcovers in good, rich, organic soil shaded by tall trees and shrubs.
