Plant Description

Clematis ‘Rooguchi’ is a Japanese hybrid between C. integrifolium and C. reticulata. It has deep purple, 2.5” bell shaped flowers, several per stem, and flowers from mid to late summer. Treat it as an herbaceous perennial and let it scramble through an open shrub or use it in a large container. Rooguchi is an easy-to-grow clematis and wants morning sun and some afternoon shade with good soil. It is very resistant to clematis wilt. Flowering is on new growth, so before new growth starts in the spring, prune the vine down to the first pair of leaf buds. This is a beautiful flowering power house.
