Plant Description

Clematis addisonii has a very limited native range, occurring in only 4 counties in western Virginia in dry, open woods with calcareous soil. Early summer flowers are solitary, bell-shaped, and soft rose-pink to purple and are followed by fluffy seed heads. Let this one climb through shrubs. It never gets aggressive.
