Plant Description

If a red hot, flashy hummingbird attractor is what you need, then Salvia ‘Hot Lips’ is the plant for you! This 3 foot clumper is continuously loaded with flowers all summer and up to frost. Flowers are variously bicolored brilliant rose/red and pure white, or brilliant solid rose/red. Flower color varies from branch to branch, day to day, and according to the whim of unknown forces! But they are always brilliant and beautiful. Summer leaves are bright green but with cool weather turn burgundy. Hailing from Arizona and the mountains of Mexico, this power house loves hot, dry weather. In zones 8 and warmer, it will really explode during its second summer. Hummingbirds won’t be able to leave it alone. Plant it with other drought tolerant sun lovers like butterfly weed, ‘Tiki Torch’ coneflower, anise sage, and nepeta ‘Cats Meow’.
