Plant Description

Glade fern is a tall, slender fern with once-cut, deciduous fronds that make graceful, arching, 2-3’ tall clumps. These clumps slowly expand into colonies in moist, fertile, slightly alkaline, woodland soil. Its natural range is throughout all of eastern North America. Use this elegant fern with its medium texture to complement both finer textured perennials (like maidenhair fern or dolls eyes) and coarser textured perennials (like Arisaema or Brunnera). Plant it in the shade in masses for a dramatic effect.
