Aralia cordata ‘Sun King’

Golden Japanese Spikenard

$ 15.95

Item #: 1674
Pot Size: full quart

Plant Description

‘Sun King’ is a gold form of Japanese spikenard. It makes elegant 3’ clumps of bright gold, compound leaves if given a few hours of direct sun each day. In more shade, its foliage will be more lime green and chartreuse. The ideal garden spot would have good soil, with morning sun followed by afternoon shade. In late summer, 3’ tall spikes of tiny white flowers poke up above the foliage. The flowers are then followed by purple berries that birds love. ‘Sun King’ provides good texture, color, and form in a part shade garden and would also make a stunning container plant. It is easy and fast growing. An added benefit is that deer don’t like it at all! New this year.
