Plant Description

Do you need a dwarf purple coneflower? Then ‘Dixie Belle’ is for you, growing just 18” tall but packed with all the power you’d expect from its full sized relatives. ‘Dixie Belle’ reminds us of Tennessee coneflower with its bright pink flowers and petals that point out and up, and its green cones. This little clumper flowers all summer in full sun and dry conditions and attracts butterflies and other pollinators the whole time, too. It is best planted in late spring through late summer when the soil is warm, into well-drained basic or limey soil. Consider planting a large container with it, and muhly grass, and catmint. Or plant it in the front of the border with ‘Hello Yellow’ butterfly weed, sedum ‘Vera Jameson’, Cumberland Snow’ conradina, and dwarf Russian sage.
