Illicium parviflorum ‘Florida Sunshine’

Florida Sunshine Anise Tree

$ 14.95

Item #: 1684
Pot Size: full quart

Plant Description

‘Florida Sunshine’ is a brightly colored selection of the rare anise tree found in floodplains and shaded hammocks in Florida. It has oblong, thick, licorice-scented, bright chartreuse-gold, leaves that intensify in color becoming brilliant yellow in the fall then mellowing to soft creamy ivory for winter. In late spring, white flowers dangle from the branches. ‘Florida Sunshine’ forms a small, rounded, evergreen shrub attaining 4-5’ in height and a little less in width. For best coloring, place it in light shade with some moisture. An evergreen backdrop like hollies, rhododendrons, or hearts a bustin, would really emphasize the colors. This is a super useful shrub to brighten up a shady place or be the star of a shaded rain garden, and it is highly deer resistant. New this year.
