Oxalis violacea 'Love in Vein'

Wood Sorrel, Wild Shamrock

Item #:
Pot Size: 3.5" pot

Plant Description

A colorful new introduction from the Mt. Cuba Center, Love in Vein wood sorrel adds more pop to what is already an attractive, sturdy, dependable denizen of our woodlands. Resembling a wild shamrock, it has bright, rich violet flowers with pronounced white and lime green eyes, and leaves with strong dark purple patterning. It is very easy and good for dry, difficult, shaded places, eventually forming large patches. Primarily spring blooming and summer dormant, but frequently flowers again without leaves in the fall. Plant lots, and let it naturalize with alumroot, columbine, dwarf crested iris, and pussytoes.
